Tips for Dummies: How to NOT Miss Someone: Lesson 2

Missing a person(s) is never any fun.

So how to get around that nagging ache?

TIP #2.
Start going out with friends like it's your job.
(Between workouts of course!)

Find ANYONE...

and EVERYONE to hang out with!

From the cool cats...

 To cool dogs...
(of course!!!)

To EVEN some of the not so cool people...

...but you keep them around because they are mildly interesting!

And some?
Well, they are really NOT that interesting at all!

Sigh*

If only I could charge for all this GREAT advice!!!

MOU-hahahahhah!

Keep checking-in, Tip #3 tomorrow!

Tips for Dummies: How to NOT Miss Someone: Lesson 1

Missing a person(s) is never any fun.

Why?

Because "it" (the feels) often don't go away.
It's like a nagging itch.
Worse than an itch,
it's like catching POISON IVY!
That stuff is brutal because it's EXTRA itchy and you really cannot scratch that stuff.
Absolutely not, no scratching!!!
It spreads and scabs and pus leaks out....GROSS!!!
(And yeah, I've done it and indeed it starts to spread everywhere
and I MEAN EVERYWHERE!!!)

So,
what to-do,WHAT-TO-DO Lauren!?!

FIVE TIPS to forget that person(s)
you miss - Absolutely FREE!
One per blog post  to help you overcome your misfortune
of not having your loved one(s) near.
(Guaranteed to work or your $$$ back)

TIP #1.
Exercise like it's your job.

Pardon?
What did you say?
YUP.
YOU HEARD ME!
Find a hill that looks like this.
Both when you look UP and when you look...

DOWN....HAH!

Perhaps even give the monster (a.k.a. hill)
a name like...?
Bertha - perrrrfect!

Giving the hill a name, makes it more personal.
So that way, when you are fighting (or dying)
your way up that mountain you can really take it out on Bertha!
Calling her all sorts of names and getting upset that she
is attacking you so.

Remember,
the hill needs to be so high and so long that
it makes you want to close your eyes and look away.
(See example below)

How much you can really
MISS or THINK
of that "other" person(s) when you are trying
to survive the pain that Bertha is putting you through?
That's what I thought.
And with a steady heart rate in between 168  - 176
(Maxed out at 182...the fourth time up!)
you won't have time (or perhaps consciousness)
to think about anything else!

So...yeah.

Super-great idea Lauren.
PUMPED to hear your other ideas.

Ummm...riiiiiiiight.

Travels with Miki (who the HECK is Miki?)

A dear friend made and gave me a gift
that kinda looked like this.

She is a teacher and therefore had made them for her students and passed one to me
(I pretty much was one of her students, she taught ME about my new curriculum!)

HAH.

Over the years,
I have used this guy in my classes for games and other activities
but
it wasn't until recently that I discovered just how
MUCH FUN this little guy could be...

Miki
(that was the name given)
 went on a trip recently.

Did a lot of shopping...

Sight seeing...

Eating his face off....

Hanging out in parks...

Made new friends...

Took mindful moments...

Ordered out...

Tried his best at bargaining at local fish markets...

Failed so bad at the fish markets, drowned his sorrows in the new Radiohead album...

Continued to be tourist...

Made some "special"friends...

Rang the bell...
(as you do when you find one that ginormous)

And met MORE special friends...
(he was on a roll)

Ate dark chocolate to celebrate...

...took some time reflecting about life...

Took nice long walks in the woods and napped in bird feeders...
(as you do when you are the size of a large coffee mug)

Got crazy and drank his face off some nights...

Then tried his best to sweat it out the following day...

I don't even know what to say about this picture.

Definitely got close to getting in a couple of FIGHTS!

Made it home safe and sound.
So...yeah.

Thankful Friday*

No one says it better than Dr. Seus.

"When you think things are bad,
When you feel sour and blue,
When you start to get mad...
You should do what I do...
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
You're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
Oh, ever so much more...
Oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!"

Thankful to be at the lake.
Thankful to be able to jump off the dock.
Thankful that the mosquitoes a few and far between.

Thankful to be able to eat and cook good food.
(Marshmallows and dark chocolate - is this heaven!? YES!)
Thankful to be on an island with nothing but
good peeps.

(People like THIS are not allowed on the island, period)

Thankful that I haven't gotten so burnt.
Thankful that I am almost done my book
(Reading the Goldfinch has consumed me - argh!)
Thankful to be SWIMMING in the lake and breathing FRESH AIR on a daily!
And finally,
thankful to happy to also be leaving and seeing MORE family.

Hope you are having a good Friday, and if not?
There's always next week.

Boom.

Smiling (cuz it's Thursday!)

I read this the other day while searching for a funny
quote for a  friend...

"We loose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

Not sure if I am turning into my character
in Donna Tartt's "The Goldfinch"
but I am definitely afraid if somehow I am "finding" myself in this story?

Absolutely loving the fact that I am lost
in this delicious novel but again,
hoping there are no REAL connections
between me and (gulp) Theo.
*Yikes*

What is the last book you
fell in love with?

p.s.
Thank you for that little nugget of wisdom,
Columbia public library!

p.p.s. Smiling cuz it's one day closer!

Mornings are Magic

I have always been a morning person.

For me, mornings are magic in every way.

Things are quiet.
New and fresh ideas slowly start surfacing.
The light seems rejuvenating.
The world seems more approachable.

And did I mention the
COFFEE is HOT AND DELICIOUS!?!

But in all seriousness.
If there was EVER a moment in the day that I wished would last just a little bit longer?

My answer would be those weeeee early mornings when it's just
me,
the birdies,
some inspiring bits of light,
that solid, warm cuppa coffee and
my random thoughts.

Trying to solve all the problems of the world,
one day at a time.

HAH.

So...yeah.
What did YOU do this morning!?!?!
