A New Beginning for Me in Mathematics

I failed grade 11 math - true story.

Okay, I didn't fail exactly but my math teacher gave me a 51% because he knew I studied all the time, had a math tutor and came to all the extra math help after school...and yet, the lightbulb in my head was and to this day has stayed on the OFF switch.

I start my new practicum in March teaching grade 6 math; I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
Yet, I went to meet my class and associate teacher for the the first time last week and guess what kind of math they were learning...

My lightbulb just switched ON.

"What do you think we'll learn next math class?" I said to one of my students when lesson was over.
The girl just looked at me completely confused.
"Shouldn't you know Miss Wells?!?"

(I guess technically I should because eventually I will be taking over class & lessons from the associate teacher but for now it's still just getting to know students, teacher and the cool math curriculum)

"Oh right, yes of course! How exciting! I cannot wait until our next math class!"

Girl left class giggling at me - opps!

I often forget that I am no longer a student but a teacher...

True story.
