Learning Bangla from a Bangladeshi

It was hot. I was sweating.

People were everywhere.

We (a group of international individuals) were 90 minutes early for our train to Shrimogol

this past weekend (decided to take a vacation in northern part of Bangladesh)

And because no one had ever taken a train, we had no idea where to wait, what time to get there, etc.

So we all just stood outside the station - inside was a little nuts.

Then it happened and believe me, this kinda thing only happens in Dhaka.

Suddenly a mass of people had formed a wall around our small group, just starring in a non-threatening

but very curious kind of way.

I have gotten use to the staring and did not once feel uncomfortable but

sometimes it just seems pointless to stand and look at each other for hours on end.

So I got out  my Bangla book and attempted to interview a gentleman with a nice smile.

Here is some evidence of my terrible attempt...

I don't think they understood a word of what I was saying...but it was

FUN none-the-less...

...more to come of the trip up NORTH!
