Celebration Lunch - Part 2

Once all the adults had left the room and gone

to do the washing up and sharing of leftovers...GUESS

WHO HAD A PARTY SANS ADULTES?!?!?!

Bahahahahahha!

(I was like  kid in a candy store instigating CRAZINESS)

First silly GROUP shots

But this got too boring for me...

MORE SILLY faces I say - showing them a few of my own!

Things get better - but then I give the camera away and that
is when the real party starts!

Did someone say paint? Mehndi painting?!?

Sooooooo COOOOOOOOL!

BEST PART OF MY DAY!

Can you believe they pay me to teach KIDS!?!?

Celebration Lunch Party - Part 1

This is my friend Siddik who invited me over for lunch this pas weekend.
Really? You want to invite me over for lunch?
Free food? SOLD!
(I'm a cheap date - what can I say?)
It started off with a proper meal, sitting down like normal people.
(I am constantly finding myself eating while running from class to class)
This was a lovely change from the everyday RUSH of life.

Then after lunch, it's customary to take photos...especially if you are a stranger and the only

white girl for a 100 mile radius.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice Lauren!

Siddik's wife Shuhala was my favourite.

Well, maybe after these kiddies....little boy in the shorts was HILARIOUS!

But this young girl - I cannot pronouce let alone write her name - took my breath away!

I kept saying ohhhhhh your hair!

And I told her I wanted Mermaid hair for years....everyone laughed because

I said Bear hair instead of Mermaid hair.

It's kinda close.

And then EVERYONE wanted pictures but funny, why is no one SMILING?!?!

(except my little cutie muffin on the bottom)

At this point I was starting to feel very famous and quite tall.

My photographer (a young boy who randomely took charge of camera)

was telling me to duck down...too BIG he kept saying!

I don't know who was more taken with who. She kept

wanting to take pictures with me and I kept thinking - REALLY!?!?!

(fingers crossed the whole time that I wouldn't blink for all of them)

Part TWO

(which is the FUN PART)

coming soon!

Dance My Blues Away = Happy Start to 3 Day Work Week

My school vacation is over thus tomorrow

it's back to the GRIND and STRESS of being a new teacher.

UGH!

So in light of this - how about a FUN little pick me up?

Question: How do us Wells'ssssss dance???

With lots of INTENSE spinning, HARDCORE moves and a

LOT of the dizzies.

The training starts at a very young age.

Don't believe me?

Baz will demonstrate.

Still not convinced?

We Wells'ssss learn to enjoy dancing at such a young

age and that by the time we are 3 years old

we are masters at

SPINNING

and not getting sick or dizzy.

Then it's on to bigger better things, like

HEAD STANDS!

Don't believe me?

Leia and Baz will once again surprise and astound you!

Can hardly wait until there is MORE - neither can you, eh?

their pet worms!

Here Fishy-fishy-fishy

Where do you find fish like this?

From waters like this.

And people like this...

I hope this video works

(fingers crossed)

because I cannot tell you how astonishing it

was to watch these young lads lift such heavy

nets...over and over and over again.

Don't worry - we paid them handsomely for fish and

gave them some chocolate chip cookies

(Lauren Wells style)

Yeah, you're right.

Probably shouldn't handout my baking due to high

risk of choking on a Wellsey/Sideshow/Moufassa?Dirty Squirrel hair ball!

(or in Dicerbo's case a wooden spoon!)

I can take the HEAT - well, errrr kinda!

The following film is for those individuals who like the cook

and can appreciate a LOT of spice on fish - fresh fish that is!

Watch and learn from master chef Ms.Wells.

p.s. my student is talking on the phone while taking video - ha!

p.p.s. I was caught off guard and camera shy- can you imagine?

I know me! But note at the end, I say WOW because that

is the same kinda of OVEN that I made outside.

Incredible experience.

And the fish were bloody brilliant too!

Building a MUD stove with Marwah

A couple weeks ago I got the opportunity to accompany

one of my students to her house outside of Dhaka.

My student's name is Marwah and she is in Gr. 10.

Although I don't teach grade tens this year, I'm her personal project advisory.

(SCARY I KNOW)

In the IB curriculum students who are in Gr.10 have to come up

with their own idea for a personal project and work on it throughout the year.

(on top of all their other subjects)

This independent study/project is quite intense and essentially allows them to continue their studies into the last two senior levels of school (gr. 11 and 12)....if they pass that is.

No pressure!

I know you are asking, what does this have to do with a MUD stove?

Marwah's personal project (pp) is about learning how to prepare, cook and understand the culture behind  Bangladeshi food -COOLBEANS!
Therefore as her pp adviser I not only got invited to come and see her mud oven she made herself
but got to make my own and see another part of Bangladesh that I would
have NEVER seen before.

Here are just SOME pictures....oven making only!

End result???

Next post you will see how this looks
in a REAL kitchen.

(sneaky smile)

What have I done...

I now know what it's like to have kids or at least have some

SMALL sense of what it means.

After a day of being on my feet all day I just want a moment to

myself to take a tinkle.

This cat, whom I am calling more and more the following names

MILOU - BILOU - and

"where the hell are you, you little fungus?"

Hah!

WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!

Grrrrr!

Happy HOME Sandwich (home/happy/home)

I like making things feel like home

or

at least giving them the Lauren Wells touch!

What does that mean?

I have no idea.

What I like to think is even in the worst looking places

have the potential to look their best if you've got
just a little imagination.
I am currently living in a home that's quite beautiful.

So if you ever find yourself in Nepal, India, Bangkok or Kuwait

then you need a FREE and WARM and WELCOMING place to stay?

Get your butt to Dhaka PRONTO!

It's only 49.99 taka a night - 60.00 if breakfast you want breakfast

(warm scones and kicking horse coffee served by a girl with a fro who will
wake you up early and take your through a bunch of core exercises)

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

More photos on what I see OUTSIDE my home to come.

;-)

First two photos, were my bedroom - this is the hallway outside my bedroom

Living room - stretching mat and all.

What you see when you walk into the house and look left - dining room?

Every house must have at LEAST one pony.

Love my fun little kitchen :-)

The glass doors on the left are living room and the door on the right
 is the main entrance.
(behind me is my dining room area and pony picture - hah!)

Back to my room!
The room above this one was the GUEST ROOM so who wants to BOOK NOW?!?
(can you hear the desperation and loneliness in my voice?)
(ugh - bullocks!)
Yes, despite being a little homesick I am so grateful.
Fantastic accommodations.

INDEED!
I am LUCKY-SPOILED BRAT and PRINCESS all in one!

Toute a (with accent) fait!
