Gotta be GRATEFUL for the month of MARCH

I have come to realize there are A LOT Of birthdays in March.
Many that I can't keep up with, forget or will not post on this blog.
(my apologies)

HOWEVER

There are some that need to be told or SHOUTED out because well,
it's not every day your GRANNY turns 92 years old.

Say whaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!

YUP - 92 folks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST GRANNY
May I someday grow up with the kindness and SPUNK that you have!
And may I always jump and throw my hands up when frightened...
...oh wait, you ALREADY PASSED THAT GENE ALONG!

Shessssh.

Like I said, a LOT of birthday's in the month of March
so of course I had to make a CARROT CAKE!
(no, it was not as good as yours Jane but I tried!)

Opps - wrong way!

No other way of saying I love you, right?!?!

Grateful for friends with big HEARTS and even more so
with BIGGER, CRAZIER IDEAS than me.....

YES SHAZZA - that would be you!
It was her birthday this month and so naturally, she was CELEBRATED!
But again, I have never partied or celebrated with such a
LIVELY SPIRIT!
This woman IS the life of the party and we all luv it!

Proof you say?
Below is a picture of the lastest themed party....a 70's party!
Yes, those are matching sequence jump suits that cut
our arms the whole NIGHT!
WHO KNEW
sequence could be sooooo painful!
Luv your GUTS woman!
Just saying.

Maybe not so much your dirty feet though - Bahahahhah!

Happy birthday wishes to ALL cuz the month STILL AIN't OVER!

The Truth About Running with Men

Two weeks ago I ran my first 1/2 marathon.

I have only ever run marathons - not because I am a WICKED runner
but because it means
(in my mind)
that you can run at a grandma pace for a lot longer.
And more time means more Podcasts and books on tape to listen to, right?
(killing two birds with one stone is my mantra in life)

BUT

this half marathon actually killed me!
Killed me because 1) I trained only a "petit peu" but
2) I had no IDEA how to pace myself properly.

The man in the picture above is the one who saved me.
He SAVED me because we stayed together, step-by-step, in sync for the last 4 kilometres
when I wanted to vomit, wanted to stop and wanted to walk.
And even though he took off in the end,
(later he told me he could not get beat by a girl - Ugh MEN!)
he still helped me finish that LONG FINAL STRETCH.

To sum up?
Running with MEN ain't that bad - as long as you know
they are still gonna SMOKE you at the end of it all....

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

The lunch experience I never expected...

Went to a friends house for lunch and well...didn't want to leave.

Is that normal?

I just wanted to curl up on the couch, or in a chair or perhaps outside on the grass?

I think it's unbelievable how certain people's houses can make one feel
SO AT HOME that it either...brings tears to their eyes (grass on roof did that to me)
or
makes them want to stay....literally (I was there for four hours - oppsie!)

Here are a few photos from the wonderful afternoon lunch.
Yes, indeed.
I am a lucky girl.

The front doors I want at my house....eventually.

Just a little lunch....hah!

Beautiful home with LOTS of light.

Just a Roger signed HAT - no big deal!

Piece of art that caught my eye...

Get ready for the light.....

Oh my word - the windows just don't stop.

Blinded by the light - hah!

One of my favourite places in DHAKA. Fact.

There is so MUCH growing going on here!

Never been so excited to pick my OWN carrot!

Yes - I did try to bite a carrot that was NOT washed. Sue me, I was HUNGRY!

That was REAL grass....so, so soft it brought a tear to my eye.
I have forgotten what REAL grass feels like under my feet.

The pool far below....

Another little spot that I would love to
call my own...except, you don't live there Lauren!

The host and all us gal guests,

Lauren practicing how to keep eyes closed.

I could NOT get over this
roof top garden - in love!

Fun decorations and art pieces galore!

Small Brazilian village made from reusable materials.....so small, so detailed, so interesting to look at.

Susan getting a up-close-and-personal.

Think pair share - hah!

More details of this fantastic art work - hah!

So when can I get one of these little villages made for me?

To sum up?

I realized the following from having this lovely little lunch.
1) I need LIGHT to make me happy
2) Growing my own vegetables makes my heart
sing and me smile for the rest of the day
3) Good art work is WORTH investing in - fact.
4) Gotta get out MORE and make MORE friends....hahahha!

Spring Yet in Canada?

Errrr, I'm afraid to ask.

Is it spring yet in Canada?

Didn't think so.

Sorry for asking.

So..yeah.

Won't tell you how HOT it is here today.

Peter Would You Eat This?

Home grown carrot in Dhaka.

And yes, that was me taking a bite of it BEFORE
it was washed - ewwwwww!

Some things never change.

Speaking of things that never change...Lauren OPEN YOUR EYES!
The lovely lady on the far left is the owner of this
wonderful, magically place that has a GARDEN ON THE ROOF!

Yes!!! That is REAL grass! Soft and beautiful...reminds me of home.
*big sigh*

Alright, that is better!
What a GREAT day and GREAT fun.
p.s. Peter you didn't answer the question -

Blond hair babies are a FUN and EASY target....I mean - errrrr, awkward.

They didn't even notice I was sprinkling them with orange, magic, fairy-dust!

What Do I Say To Students? Mmm

Hello (sweetly), you're LATE!
(Oh how the tables have turned - I'm always late!)

Explain your thinking....
(I do that TOO much I think)

Dynamite!
(Stole that saying from a great friend and her mom!)

I respectfully disagree with you...
(Although I often say to student, by accident of course, I disrespectfully disagree with you)

Beat it!
(Michael Jackson and Tracey had a lot of influence on me!)

Alright, just gimmie two seconds....
(10 minutes later)...Ummm Ms.Wells???

You need to turn around so I can see you beautiful face...
(I only say that to the pretty students...JUST KIDDING!)

Oy - listen up!
(Sometimes I'm Aussie?)

Now, sit down and get in your bubble.
Sorry, what was that? I didn't hear you...I was in my bubble!
(true story, say it OFTEN and the grade 6 love it...especially at the end of class when they "pop" each other's bubbles - ha!)

Just in case you needed to know what working in a BUBBLE
looked like - HAH!

Have a good weekend - MINE IS ALREADY HERE!

(wink)

The footage starts off badly for the first 8 seconds....

How many times have you seen a BABY monkey looking so cute?
Although not that impressed...he didn't even TRY to jump over the gap!

No more cool breezes from Borneo...just hot-Hot-HOT
temperatures heading towards Dhaka.
Today it's suppose to have a high of
36 C at 82% humidity
YUK!
WELCOME to the DRY
season...just before the monsoons hit!

Ahhhh - refreshing COLD water on my toes!
